High Achieving Students

The Credit By Exam (CBE) is an essential tool for all students wanting to boost private school placement, GPA and college acceptance.

Services

There is no better time to get ahead in math!

Material covered during these years is far less dense than later math classes. Getting ahead during this time will put a student on a far better track through high school.

Students who fast-track one or more math courses are able to take more AP classes, duel credit classes, and score higher on ISEE and other private school placement tests.

Calling all science enthusiasts!

These classes cover a wide range of topics that lack any real focus or depth. General science learned these years can often feel repetitive and boring.

Students who progress quickly through their foundational courses can transition sooner into specialized subjects like chemistry, biology, and physics. This early advancement increases their chances of enrolling in AP classes in these areas, allowing for deeper learning and academic opportunities.

High school students must complete a set number of social studies courses to graduate. These typically include U.S. History, U.S. Government, Economics, Personal Financial Literacy, World History, and Geography.

Since these courses usually span all four years of high school, getting a head start in middle school can free up time later. This extra time might allow students to take an additional AP/Dual Credit class or pursue opportunities like internships during their senior year, especially if they have an early release schedule.

Students who demonstrate a strong grasp of pre-algebra concepts can easily accelerate through this course, giving them a significant advantage over their peers.

This Credit By Exam (CBE) is a popular choice for high school students to take during the summer after completing Algebra 1. The concepts covered in this course are essential for success on the SAT and ACT. With focused study, students can efficiently grasp the material they need to excel on these exams.

FAQs

  • Accelerated Learning - Students can skip a course they already understand, allowing them to move on to more advanced subjects sooner.

Flexible Scheduling – By earning credit through an exam, students free up time in their schedule for additional AP classes, electives, or extracurricular activities.

Cost Savings – Some CBEs allow students to earn college credit, reducing tuition costs and time spent in a classroom.

Academic Advancement – Completing CBEs can strengthen a student’s transcript, making them more competitive for college admissions.

Personalized Learning – Students who excel in a subject can bypass redundant coursework and focus on areas that challenge them.

  • Simple answer - The exams are offered through school districts and accredited institutions.

    Generally:

Local school districts must approve and administer/offer the CBE in accordance with state law.

State colleges and community colleges in every state offer the CBE for residents.

To find out where you can take a CBE, check with your school counselor or district administration. They can provide details on scheduling, eligibility, and approved testing locations.

  • Many schools allow students to retake the CBE after a waiting period. Some districts may limit the number of attempts.

For example: In Texas, the state requires 4 testing periods per year, and a student can only attempt the CBE once per testing period. Every state has different guidelines and requirements, and some districts limit the amounts of times a student can attempt a specific CBE.

There is no downside to failing the test, other than not being able to accelerate in that subject and having to enroll in the full course. The failing test grade does not effect GPA or class ranking.

  • Yes! Usually, the CBE exam requires a passing grade of 80% to receive credit for the course. However, if a student has already received instruction in the material - whether through online school, summer school, or during the regular school year - they can get credit for the course if they pass the CBE with just a 70%.

The CBE is an amazing way to recover credits for a class that the student maybe just barely failed due to unexpected life situations or hardships.

As always, a quick search into your local school districts rules regarding using the CBE to recover credits is necessary for the most accurate and up to date information.
